A mandi runs on trust that can be checked. Everything below is something a grower or a buyer can hold us to, out loud, on the floor.
Growers get the auction rate, a written patti and payment on the agreed day. No adjustments after the fact.
Every consignment is sorted by size, colour and firmness before the hammer, so buyers bid on what is actually in the crate.
Unloading, grading, auction and loading out all happen before the day gets hot. Fruit does not sit around waiting.
Growers send them because they are graded properly. Buyers come back for them because what is called at the auction is what is in the crate.

Bhagwa and Ganesh grades from the Gujarat and Maharashtra belts, graded by count and colour before they reach the auction floor.

Allahabad-type white flesh alongside local Gujarat pink. Handled soft and moved fast, because guava does not wait.
એલચી કેળાંElaichi Kela
The small, sweet elaichi variety alongside regular robusta. Ripeness is judged by hand, so fruit reaches the counter rather than passes it.
સીતાફળSitaphal
Saurashtra and Marathwada sitaphal, sized and single-layered so nothing bruises on the way to the buyer.
મોસંબીMosambi
Juice-grade and table-grade mosambi kept apart, because a juice centre and a fruit shop are not buying the same fruit.

Thompson seedless and black varieties out of the Nashik belt, moved through the shop cold and quick.

From the truck rolling in overnight to the grower’s account being settled — this is the whole loop, and it usually closes before the day gets hot.
Trucks reach the market overnight. Lots are unloaded, counted against the challan and stacked under our shop number before first light.
Fruit is sorted by size, colour and firmness. Damaged pieces come out, and each grade is lotted separately so it fetches its own rate.
Lots are called from around 6 AM in front of the buyers physically present. The rate a lot fetches is the rate that goes on the patti.
Sold lots are weighed, packed and loaded for the buyer’s vehicle or a booked transport, usually within the same morning.
The grower receives an itemised account — quantity, rate, commission, mandi charges and freight — followed by payment on the agreed cycle.
